The Forest School of Lawrence is a nature-based education program founded in Lawrence, Kansas. Currently, we have children from five through twelve years of age. As our students advance, we will be expanding to eighteen years of age.
At our program, we explore local native prairie, wetlands, rivers, and forest. Here, the classroom is the land in which we live with and learn about our world through curiosity, discovery, play, and friendship.
We meet four days a week at Tall Oaks Camp and Conference Center in Linwood, KS. Tall Oaks is over 350 acres of forest with trails, campgrounds, a rope course, archery range, equestrian program, and more. One day a week we meet at the Lawrence Creates Makerspace for Circus School with The Last Carnival. At Circus School, the children learn a wide variety of circus arts, including aerial silks, contortion, acroyoga, circus props, costume design, makeup, set design, and theatre.
We are currently accepting full-time enrollment. Please check our Information Page for details about tuition and affordability.
“Knowing that you love the earth changes you, activates you to defend and protect and celebrate. But when you feel that the earth loves you in return, that feeling transforms the relationship from a one-way street into a sacred bond.” ~ Robin Wall Kimmerer
